Retro tram
Visitors of Riga have a unique opportunity to see the Art Nouveau Metropolis of Rīga – From a Retro Tram!
The Rīga Circle of Boulevards
The 15-minute trip along Rīga’s “circle of boulevards” will offer a look at some of the great symbols of architecture and culture in Rīga – the Latvian National Opera, the Freedom Monument, the Latvian National Theatre, and other important and distinguished structures.
At the final destination of the route in Ausekļa Street, you may want to walk through the “Art Nouveau” neighbourhood of Elizabetes, Alberta and other nearby streets. The “Pearls of Rīga Art Nouveau” tourist guide will be of good use there.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11.40AM, 1.40PM, 3,40PM you are welcome to take a free guided walking tour of the „Art Nouveau neighborhood.”
Mežaparks
An hour-long ride on the retro tram will bring you to the Mežaparks neighbourhood of beautiful private homes designed largely in accordance with the aesthetics of Art Nouveau. You will find the so-called “Swiss summer home” style, as well as the German “motherland style”. At the Mežaparks stop, you can disembark for a visit to the Rīga Zoo, then taking the tram back to the city centre.
The tram will depart from the “Radio ring” opposite the Latvian National Opera. It will run from April 27 until October 31 every day except Mondays. The tram will operate from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
